Text and Image Processing: Non-Interrupted Skeletonization

In this work a new method of skeletonization is presented. The results of applying the developed algorithm showed its universality. A detailed comparison with other very good and almost ideal algorithms of thinning [1,2,3,4,5] is given. Both texts and pictures are tested to prove the essential difference between the presented in this paper algorithm and the other known ones, including the author's last criterion [1]. The algorithm is extended to cover the thinning of images like pictures or photos. Color images were also tested with satisfying results. Some advanced experiments were made to apply our approach on human organs for the purpose of compression and data saving. The results were encouraging, indeed. However, this work is limited to script and text thinning while leaving pictures and medical organs images to next work [6].
